The Stanly County Black History & Economic Empowerment Event Showcase is a community-centered showcase designed to connect history, education, and opportunity. Rooted in the legacy of Kingville and Albemarle’s first Black school campus, this program uplifts overlooked stories while creating space for dialogue, learning, and economic growth.
Through presentations, youth showcases, interactive discussions, and community engagement, the program highlights the contributions of Black leaders, educators, entrepreneurs, and families who helped shape Stanly County. Participants explore how history informs present-day challenges and opportunities—bridging past resilience with future pathways.
A key focus of the program is economic empowerment. Attendees gain access to resources, conversations, and tools centered on financial literacy, generational wealth, workforce readiness, entrepreneurship, and second-chance opportunities. By bringing together youth, elders, professionals, and community partners, the program fosters cross-generational learning and collaboration.
This experience is more than a history program—it is a platform for youth leadership development, community pride, and collective progress. By honoring where we come from and investing in where we’re going, the Black History & Economic Empowerment Program helps strengthen identity, inspire action, and build a more informed and empowered Stanly County.
